Browser Data, Explained

Short version: one tiny note, and only about the cookie card. Here is the longer version for anyone who likes to check.

The one thing we save

The first time you open Newsdump, a card appears asking whether you are fine with the site remembering your choice. Whichever button you press, your browser writes that answer into its localStorage, a small storage area that belongs to newsdump.net on your own device. The next page you open reads the answer, sees you have already decided and keeps the card out of the way.

That entry:

  • contains only your accept or decline answer;
  • lives only on the device you are reading on and travels nowhere;
  • carries no ID number and cannot be used to tell readers apart;
  • remains until you clear it, because localStorage has no built-in expiry date.

What we do not set

Newsdump runs no analytics, no advertising, no social plug-ins and no tracking pixels, so there are no third-party cookies coming from our pages. We also do not set login or session cookies, since there is nothing to log in to.

Our hosting provider may use strictly technical mechanisms to deliver pages quickly and fend off abuse. These are part of keeping the site online, not part of profiling visitors. The privacy page explains the server logs in more detail.

How to see or remove it

  1. Open your browser's settings and look for privacy, site settings or website data.
  2. Search for newsdump.net in the list of stored sites.
  3. Choose to view or delete its data.

On a phone, the same option usually sits under the browser's privacy or website data menu. After clearing it, the card simply returns on your next visit and asks again. Private or incognito windows forget the answer automatically when you close them.
